Today is Emancipation Day, and that should be celebrated. But we still have a long way to go in order to rid ourselves of the scourge of slavery. In the world today there still exists not only chattel slavery, but also many other kinds of less visible forms of human bondage and abuse. So yes let’s celebrate, but let us keep on fighting too for a better world of freedom and justice for all.
